‘Blood of Steve Scalise is on your hands!’ Protesters disrupt ‘Julius Caesar’

HTAG 1 TT41-year-old Uzbekistan native Oksana Chusovitina is the oldest female gymnast in Olympic history. She also happens to be a mama, which is often the very next happen you learn about her.HETAG 1 TT DTAG 1 TTDTAG 2 TT IMG 2 TT

It’s wonderful and invigorating that Chusovitina is a mom to a 17 -year-old as well as a seriously talented Olympian at twice the age of her challengers. Nonetheless, the fact that she’s a mama has become a weirdly necessary addition to her story despite the fact that it has nothing to do with her knowledge as canadian athletes.

And she’s far from the only Olympian-slash-mom to have received this sort of treatment.

Swimmer Dana Vollmer won silver and bronze awards, but it’s difficult to find a headline that doesn’t mention the fact that she granted birth a mere 17 months earlier. Nia Ali, who’s contesting in the 100 -meter hurdle, has been surrounded by sections amazing how does she do it and reporting on how she heightened her infant son while learning. Kerri Walsh Jennings was five weeks pregnant when she prevailed her third amber award for volleyball, and it’s still one of the first things mentioned about her. Sure, acquiring medals while pregnant is pretty amazing, but that was four years ago.

HTAG 2 TTThere’s a post on Team USA’s websitededicated to its 10 contestants who are mamas but not one for dads despite the fact that there are more than four times that numerous papas representing Team USA.HETAG 2 TT

Much of “members attention” Olympian mommas receive may be because of the impact pregnancy and brand-new motherhood can have on contesting. Considering that intensive qualify may affect birthrate, it’s not surprising that giving birth could also cause some difficulties. Women’s organizations can change dramatically both during and after they’re pregnant. Duo that with the physical and mental strain that occurs during training courses and contender, and it becomes clear these mommies are champs through and through.

Being an athlete and a mom is amazing, but it’s not an impossible feat, and more often than not, it’s not something females do alone.

HTAG 3 TTOlympian daddies are also working hard to “have it all” by balancing develop with elevating children. HETAG 3 TT

It’s exactly not assumed to be such a huge achievement when a dad can also be an Olympian because we generally don’t associate papas with child care, and we usurp they have a spouse or someone taking care of their homes and families while they’re working on. Which is an ludicrous double standard.

So here we go.

RTAG 32 TTSo let’s stop guiding all the parenting credit to Olympic mamas( or subsequently giving ATAG 37 TTcredit for them winning honours to their husbands) and remove the double standard of coverage for male and female contestants. If motherhood must be included when writing and reporting on the achievements of female players, then fatherhood should be reported on for male contestants. That course, hopefully, the idea of a mommy “whos also” an athlete will stop being seen as an “impossible feat” andathletes who are dads can show that child care is something they participate in very as equals.
